Streaming Video Web Casts - What Are They?

Streaming video web casting is a way to show and access live, real time or archived video broadcastings on the Internet. With these web casts, live streaming video content is made available on websites for all kinds of purposes, from business instruction videos to educational films for children or entertainment. Video streaming websites often offer 'live' web casts but these broadcastings are hardly ever really live.


The web cast is called a live video broadcasting as it can be downloaded and played instantly instead of having to wait a long time before you can actually watch the content on your screen. Any audio or video content that is sent through the Internet is called a stream and Real-time events are live programs, archived events are recordings of live events, and these programs may actually contain fragments were indeed recorded live. You could for example can listen to a basketball game as it takes place or it could be a recorded version (called a delayed web cast), or an edited version, just like on the television.

Streaming Video Web Casts

The streaming video web casts are used for several events such as follows
Real Time Events
Real-time events are web casts of live streaming video, viewed as the event is taking place. Sometimes it is possible for viewers to interact with the event. NASA TV, and National Geographic Live Events are just a few of the broadcasting organizations hosting real time web casting events.
Delayed Web Casts
Video web casts are sometimes shared on the day of recording. This often occurs with sporting events or news programs. Older programs are usually archived to be available to download on the Internet.
Archived Events
Most of the time once broadcasted real-time events are recorded after which they are archived, and can be played back later. Many websites offer users the opportunity to watch to real-time events as well as watch the recorded, archived programmes at a later time and date.
Packaged Programs
Packaged programmes have gone through the post production process. These programmes have been edited and can be full-length shows or just clips from the entire programme. Packaged programs can be interesting for people with little time to watch and listen to broadcasts, as information is condensed into a fast and informative format with packaged programs.

What are Combinations?

Some television stations offer video web casts of their programming. Some stations are broadcasting 24 hours a day and during these 24 hours real-time events, archived events, and packaged programs are combined in a mix of both informative and entertaining programmes.
